Our loving mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, aunt and friend passed away on Sat Jan. 10, 2015, exactly 9 months to the day from the death of her beloved husband Frank Rowe Levy. Willene was born on Dec. 8, 1931 in Green River Utah to Wilbur Lee Welch and Wilma Hanks. She was the second daughter of four children. Two more children were later born to the family.
While attending East High School, Willene met Frank one evening when they were on a double date with other partners. Frank quickly decided he was with the wrong girl and set out to win Willene’s heart. They were married on Aug. 24, 1949 and spent the next 65 years together, facing the challenges and joys of Life. Two daughters were born to them within the next four years. Thinking their family was complete 13 years later they were overjoyed with a son.
Willene was a homemaker during the years her children were small. She supported them in school activities, served in the PTA and was a Primary teacher.
During later years she worked in a family cafeteria which was an outlet for her love of cooking and gave her the experience to further her career.
She broadened her education by taking classes in business, real estate and became a CNA.
She loved to read, loved music and loved doing home and craft projects which included making macramé and Jewelry etc. She was skilled at interior decorating with Christmas being the culminating activity. She loved to work in her yard, planting and nurturing her trees and flowers .She also shared dad’s absolute love and devotion for animals.
The highlight of her life were her grandkids. She devoted herself to them whether that meant letting them give her a makeover or buying out the quarter machines until they won their stuffed animals.
Those who knew her loved her …
