Sylvia Arlene Wall Pommerville passed away on October 21, 2007, after a nearly 17-year battle with breast cancer. Arlene was born on August 1, 1945 in Heyburn, Idaho to Chris and Sylvia Johnson Wall. She was the third of four children and grew up in Rupert, Idaho and Salt Lake City, UT. Arlene graduated from East High School in SLC. She married her sweetheart, Robert William Pommerville on June 10, 1966 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Their married life took them to California, Michigan, back to California, Arkansas, and then to Mountain Green, UT in 2000. Bob and Arlene have 11 children: four sons and seven daughters.
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Sylvia Wall, and her sister Beverly Wall Stanworth. She is survived by her husband, Robert; children: Mark (Katarina); Robin (Richard) Walker; Holly (Andrew) Landauer; Darcy (Mark) Allan; Elise (Michael) Johnson; Amy (Todd) Tucker; Kylee (Mark) McClellan; Heather (David) Jensen; Matthew (Camille); John (Amber); Todd (Corian); and 24 grandchildren, with three more on the way. Arlene is also survived by her brothers, Elwood (Sandra) and Venoy (Virginia) Wall.
Arlene always thought of ways to serve others even when she was very sick. She loved to crochet baby blankets for her grandchildren and donated many to the LDS Humanitarian Aid. Arlene served faithfully in the LDS church, and said many times she was thankful to be a member. She loved being a mother and seeing her children make good choices. Her recent motto was that "life is good". Her disease helped her appreciate the small blessings in life, and she was positive, cheerful, and uplifting to those around her. We will miss her sunny spirit and unconditional love!
We'd like to thank Dr. James P. Kushner, his nurse Mary Vietti, and all the staff at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital for their loving care of Arlene.
