Barbara Robinson Walker of Alpine, Utah, passed through the veil that separates Heaven from Earth on March 28, 2010. At the age of 80, she peacefully departed in her sleep after fighting cancer for over 50 years. She was temporarily residing in Mountain Green, Utah.
Joining her sister Denna, Barbara began her life in the East Mill Creek neighborhood of Salt Lake City, as a joyous gift to her parents Fern and Dennison. The family soon welcomed a dear brother LeBaron. As a girl, Barbara enjoyed the benefits of picking fresh vegetables for dinner, and caring for chickens. Her love for animals, especially her horse, and early training in self-sufficiency blessed her throughout life.
She grew in beauty and grace, and captured the affections of a Navy pilot, Franklin Walker, after the end of WWII. They married and were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 29, 1948. Being a Navy wife took Barbara to many places across the USA, and exercised her ability to care for herself and the four children she added to the family over the next eleven years. Her homemaking skills earned her many blue ribbons at county fairs and compliments as a wonderful hostess. Her love of sewing and quilting has especially distinguished her as a lady of great talent. Everyone who has had the pleasure of her company has parted a happier person.
Although Barbara's life has also had disappointments, including the loss of her oldest son and daughter, she has remained faithful, maintained hope, and has loved. She fought the beautiful battle and sprinted across the finish line. She is survived by her husband, two children, eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, who all miss her, and look forward to being reunited.
