In Loving Memory of Benton Caurie Burroughs, age 62, who died on Thursday, March 18th, 2021, from complications due to COVID. He was born on September 10th, 1958 in Meridian, Mississippi to Charlie and Phoebe (Carman) Burroughs. After his birth his parents moved back to Utah where he spent most of his life.
He served in the United States Navy from September 1976 to 1980. He was assigned to the U.S.S St. Louis in San Diego, California and completed two West Packed Tours during his service. Benton met the love of his life, Lisa Kay Facer while in San Diego and they were later married on February 10th, 1981.
Benton worked on Hill Air Force Base for 35 years as an electronic technician fixing microwave radar systems for the F-16. He was an avid skier, often seen by onlookers in his summer shorts on the spring slopes. He was known for being an active person picking up interests over time to include golfing, karate and running. Benton was a fast runner, completing his first marathon at age 49 in under 3 hours and 45 minutes. He had a ravenous inclination for chocolate and would never turn down a morsel. He also loved a good horror movie, especially watching the rest of us scream in fear, even though he was usually the first one to jump.
Benton will be remembered as a hard worker. He worked many hours of overtime to provide for his family. He always went above and beyond to make sure their needs and more were met. He enjoyed working with his hands from wood working to tiling. He did many home projects to fix and improve his immediate and extended family’s homes. He always made sure they had fun from adventures four wheeling to trips to Disney Land to ride his favorite ride from his service days, The Pirates of the Caribbean. For those who truly knew him, he will be remembered as a man of great compassion and a wicked sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife Lisa Burroughs and sons, Patrick Burroughs and Ross (Anthony) Burroughs of Monterey CA, and granddaughter Jaidyn Burroughs.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held on Wednesday, March 24th, at LDS Ward House 1847 W. 2180 S. Woods Cross. Visitation will begin at 10:00 followed by a service at 11:00. His final resting place will be at Bountiful City Cemetery.
