Chaplain Berge A. Hoogasian departed Earth for his home in heaven this week. He died of natural causes at the age of 87.
A born again Christian and Baptist Minister, Chaplain Hoogasian led a distinguished military career spanning several decades of service. He began his service as an Army Private in the infantry in World War II in Europe. He later served as an Air Force Chaplain in Viet Nam, and retired from the USAF in 1977. He continued the Lord's work as a pastor for many years afterwards. An accomplished writer, he was featured in multiple periodicals, and additionally authored a book in 2010 about his experiences as a Chaplain in Viet Nam. Chaplain Hoogasian was married for over 55 years to his wife Alicia before her passing in 2006.
He is survived by his two sons, Stephen and Timothy.
His burial service will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday Aug 2, 2011 at the Mountain Green Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made at www.uso.org, or www.lam.org.
