Mountain Green - Bertrand Voss Chaston, died on Nov. 14, 2008 in Ogden, Utah. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Albert Victor Chaston and Alwina Voss.

On Nov. 24, 1964, he married Dixie Ann Gleave; they were sealed two years later in the Salt Lake Temple.

Bert served in the US Navy on the USS Hornet in the Pacific. He served in the Navy Reserve and retired from the Air Force Reserve. He taught at the Utah School for the Deaf and Blind for 35 years.

An avid scouter, he was Woodbadge-trained and active in the Order of the Arrow. He took two of his sons to the National Jamboree in 1984.

He graduated from South High School where he competed in State Track in several events and was a member of the State Champion Medley Relay Team. Bert was a graduate of the University of Utah and a member of the Crimson Club.

Surviving are his wife, Dixie and four sons: Randy (Linda), Green River, WY; Voss (Mindy) Washougal, WA; Reve (Trista), Vancouver, WA; Wenn (Vickie), Aspen, CO; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister and a brother: Ruth Gull and Norton Chaston.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Malcom, Cecil and Victor.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 at 1 p.m. in the new Highlands Chapel on Old Hwy Road in Mountain Green, Utah. Friends may call at a viewing at the church Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Interment, Mtn. Green Cemetery.
