Robert (Bobby) Norman Shelby, age 82, died Thursday, January 24, 2013 at The Family Tree Assisted Living Center. He was born March 16, 1930 in Memphis, Tennessee to Burnie Archie Shelby and Florence Louise Blackwood Shelby.
In 1950 he married Iva Evon Griffin in Lexa, Arkansas and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on May 26, 1976. In the year 2000 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. While he was serving in the USAF from 1948-1975 they lived in many places including Puerto Rico, Georgia, California, Florida, Germany, Maryland, England, Mississippi and Turkey. They raised three children in a loving and happy home. Daddy would always have plenty of time for us and loved teaching us useful skills to help us through life. We grew up doing many things together as a family such as fishing, hunting, canoeing, camping and even playing a good old hand of cards. He was a soft-spoken, hard working man. He was always ready to help his family, friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his wife, Iva Evon Griffin Shelby, brother, Clifford Wesley Shelby and grandson, William Roberts III. He is survived by his twin sisters, June Shelby and Jane Fowler and children Tracey Shelby, Susan Wiscombe, Sandra Roberts, twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the hard working staff of Family Tree for their kind and loving care, as well as, Aubrey Ashby from Hospice For Utah.
He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
