Carlyle Johnson

June 11, 1934 — October 25, 2008

Morgan - Carlyle George Johnson, 74, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2008, in Ogden, Utah after a long illness. He was born June 11, 1934 in Rugby, North Dakota to Carl W. and Victoria Justine Beech Johnson. He married the love of his life, Judy Ann Spendlove on September 30, 1966 in Milton, Utah.

After graduating from Ogden High School in 1952, he went to work for Hill Air Force Base as a machinist. For 38 years he served in many different capacities where he developed and applied his love for design and engineering. He retired in 1990 as a planning engineer.

One of his great loves was riding his motorcycles. Carl was well known for his customized Harley Davidson drag racing bike with which he won many victories. He showed his creativity through his many hobbies which included custom metal work, wood working and leather working. He enjoyed music and playing the guitar. He especially liked playing silly songs that made his kids laugh.

Carl made friends wherever he went. He was always willing to help someone in need and many people benefited from his generosity. He was a dedicated father and cherished his family. He loved spending time with them. His grandchildren were a highlight in his life.

He is survived by his wife, Judy of Milton and three children: Holly (Michael) Higley of Morgan, Laurie (Mark) Jensen of Rexburg, Idaho, Chad (Mary) Johnson of Ogden, and five grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters: Caroline Hartley, Mary Cope and Ellen Bevan.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 30, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. at the Milton Chapel, 1255 N. Morgan Valley Drive. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. at the Walker Mortuary in Morgan and Thursday at the church from 9:45 A.M. to 10:45 A.M.

Interment, Milton Cemetery.
