Catherine Atwater

Orem

Our beautiful amazing mother Catherine Bohman Atwater, age 67 of Orem, Utah has passed away unexpectedly after a quick battle with aggressive cancer. She passed peacefully surrounded by her 8 children and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren on Tuesday, May 5th, 2020 at 3:10 am.

Catherine was born the fifth child and oldest daughter on September 14th, 1952 in Ogden, Utah to Jean Holbrook and Wilson Dale Bohman. She was raised on her family farm where her Latter-day Saint pioneer family settled in Peterson, Utah. She loved living on the farm and loved her horses and cats. She graduated from Morgan High School in 1970. She was a beloved daughter and sister. She was adored by her brothers and sisters. Shortly after graduating she married the love of her life. Together they had 8 children that she loved and looked after until the end. She always created memorable traditions for her family that they continue to enjoy to this day. She liked making holidays special, loved family get-togethers, and Sunday dinners welcoming all who came.  She made sure everyone had their favorite treat or food. She was a wonderful cook and loved to serve her family and make them happy.

Catherine liked to go out of her way to serve others. She loved making baby buntings and blankets every time a new baby was in her life. Every time a new grandbaby was born there was a new handmade blanket or two for each precious one, 40 times over.

She loved her grandkids so much and always looked forward to visits and updates on how they were doing and what everyone was up to. Over the last few years, she thrilled at the births of her 6 great-grandbabies.

She had a great competitive nature and just loved getting together with her family and looked forward to every visit so she could play games and eat good food.

For 20 plus years she has enjoyed playing bunco, with her bunco group monthly and was happy for her turn to host.

Throughout Catherine’s life, she had the opportunity to live in several states and meet and make lifelong friends wherever she went.

Catherine was a faithful Unicity team member for the past 25 years. From the outside, it may have seemed like she was just a call center operator but to her Unicity family, her life’s work was that of a trusted advisor, confidant, and loving friend touching the lives of so many.

She has always been a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and his infinite atonement. She believed in serving God and her fellow men. She would do anything the Lord would ask of her and never said no. She was always steadfast and immovable, abounding in good works. It was important for her to stay faithful to her covenants with Heavenly Father and has left this legacy of faith to all her family and friends.

Catherine is preceded in death by her father, mother and 2 older brothers. She is survived by her 8 children and their spouses, 38 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, and 3 brothers and spouses, and her level 40 Valor Pokemon-Go gamer tag Grammycat834, including her 184 Shiny Pokemon that she loved like children.

Please join Catherine’s family as they celebrate her life on Saturday, May 9th at 2:00 pm at the Peterson, Utah cemetery. Please plan to practice social distancing standards as appropriate.

Words will never express the missing piece she is in the hearts of so many that she has touched. We love you forever and miss you more Momma! God be with you till we meet again...
