Pleasant View - Colleen Butters Follett Geary, 82, passed away peacefully January 5, 2011. She was born on April 20, 1928 to Irvin Robert and Beulah Ann Bertoch Butters in Morgan, Utah.
She was raised in Morgan, where she attended Morgan schools and graduated from Morgan High School in 1946. Colleen married Stanley M. Follett on March 19, 1947 and later divorced. She married Charles Wayne Geary on April 18, 1987 and was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple on October 13, 1993.
Mom worked for State Finance, John R. Martineau, M.D., and retired form Browning after 20 years in July 1987. She was a member of the LDS Church and served in many callings including: Primary, Sunday School, Mutual Presidency and many others.
Mom was always a giver. She gave to family, many friends and acquaintances throughout the years. She shared her love and friendship to many people over the years. She kept close tabs on her family and was concerned about each individual one. We will miss you Mom!! We love you.
Mom wrote "the highlights of my life were raising four wonderful children and watching them grow into such special and lovable individuals a�" and very responsible parents. I also enjoyed the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren they produced. They were such a joy to raise. AND my temple marriage to a very special husband, Wayne, and the many wonderful years we had together."
She is survived by her husband Wayne, her sister, LaVerne (Larry) Hales, Ogden, UT; her four children: Scott S. (Middy) Follett of Clearfield; Dan B (Judy) Follett of Morgan; Ann (Joel) Fawcett of West Haven; and Linda (Kelly) Bingham of Plain City; three step-children: Wayne Lyndell (Louise) Geary, Salt Lake City, UT; Scott Geary, Santa Fe, NM; and Tina (Mark) Roschke, Los Alamos, NM; 27 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and one sister.
The family would like say a huge 'thank you' to Jennifer Giebel, who helped Mom and Wayne with the house and their care over the past few months. She became a true friend and confidant to Mom.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 12 noon at the Pleasant View 10th Ward Chapel, 3602 North 500 West in Pleasant View. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 45 West 200 North, Morgan, and Monday from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. at the church in Pleasant View.
Interment at South Morgan Cemetery.
