Dale Dawson

January 3, 1933 — May 4, 2016

Dale Toone Dawson, 83, passed away May 4, 2016. Born January 3, 1933, in Henefer, UT, to Ellen Toone and Meredith Andrew Dawson.  He graduated from North Summit High School and served with the Army in Korea.  As a youth, Dale helped his father farm, herd sheep and clean the local school house.  He was a general contractor. His employers included, Hill Air Force Base, Dawson Corp, Utah State Prison and the Jordan School District.  He enjoyed playing and coaching football, baseball and basketball and loved the deer hunt.

He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. Dale met Jackie Hopkin at the Hopkin Café in Morgan. They were married on August 3, 1952 and later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on October 8, 1952.

Dale is survived by wife, Jackie, and children, Linda Smith, Denise (Bruce) Nelson, John (Suzy), and Dale (Carlene), 12 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son David Andrew, daughter Dixie, son in law Eddie Smith, grandson in law Doran (Swede) Peterson, great-grandson Donovan Peterson, parents and eight siblings.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Walker Mortuary, 45 W 200 N, Morgan. Viewings will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Midvale 1st Ward, 308 W 6th Ave (7500 S), Midvale and on Friday from 9:30-10:45 am at the Walker Mortuary. Interment at the Henefer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, take your family out to dinner.
