Dale Hodgson

Charles Dale Hodgson, 69, our loving father, peacefully passed away at home holding the hand of his sweetheart, our mother DeAnn, on September 21, 2009.

Dad was born November 15, 1939 in Anderson, Indiana to Clyde Edmon Hodgson and Fannie Giles Hodgson. When Dad was 3 years old their family moved to Morgan, Utah. He attended Morgan High where he played baseball, basketball, track and football. On September 26,1959 Dad married his high school sweetheart Rose DeAnn Welsh. They started dating in the 7th grade and on Saturday they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. During their years together they traveled the United States, Europe, Scotland, Norway, Denmark and Sweden. Their retirement years have been spent in West Haven enjoying their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dad loved horses and raised Arabian horses at their home in Morgan. He drove trucks for 49 years during which time he earned numerous awards for safety, retiring from Sinclair Oil in 2002. Dad served in the Morgan Search and Rescue and was commander from 1984 to 1986. He was a very hard worker and gave one hundred and ten percent to everything he did. He was always just a call away when anyone needed help and would come with a truck full of tools to tackle any job.

Dad is survived by our loving mother, DeAnn; daughter Shelly (Gary) Nelson, Henefer, Ut; daughter Lori (Dan) Robbins, No. Ogden, Ut; son Lance D.(Tina) Hodgson, Roy, Ut; grandchildren, Colt C. Nelson, Katelyn Rose Nelson, Jared Dale Maw, Trea Shannel Maw, Tyler Blain Robbins, Trevor L. Hodgson, and Avery Taylor Hodgson; great grandchildren, Oakley Ann Nelson, Ruger C. Nelson, and Wyatt Dale Maw; brothers, Eddie, Wayne and Niles Hodgson. He is also survived by brother and sister in laws and his mother in law Mable Welsh.

Dad was preceded in death by his parents, father in law Reed Welsh, and grandson Cody G. Nelson.

A private family viewing will be held at the Walker Mortuary in Morgan, Ut. Friday September 26, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. with a public viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A horse drawn carriage will carry him to his final resting place at the Milton Cemetery where a grave side service will be held at 12:00 p.m. This world was a better place because our dad was in it, and we will miss his loving hugs, words of encouragement, constant teasing, and unconditional love.
