Darlene Richins

July 24, 1924 — February 14, 2008

HENEFER a�" Printha Darlene Bird Richins, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully on Valentines Day, Feb. 14, 2008 and is once again reunited with her eternal companion.

She was born July 24, 1924, in Mendon, Utah the oldest of seven children to Afton and Printha Pearl Hill Bird. She attended Cache County Schools and graduated with the class of 1942 from South Cache High School and LDS Seminary.

After high school she was employed at the Ogden Arsenal and the Defense Depot in Ogden, Utah. She married Harold Meredith Richins on June 24, 1949, in the Logan LDS Temple. They celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage until Harold passed away in December of 1999.

Darlene worked for Summit county as the Deputy County Recorder for 26 years and retired in 1995. She was a member of the Henefer DUP and the American Legion Auxilliary Post #93.

She was a lifelong memer of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a deep abiding love for the Savior and a strong testimony of his gospel and served faithfully in many positions.

She loved music, theater plays and playing the piano and was also well known for her talent of giving musical readings. Her holiday tree was always decorated and she enjoyed dressing up for Halloween. Mom enjoyed celebrations and parades especially the Mendon May Day celebration.

She liked sporting events and was a big BYU football and basketball fan. She received much happiness from the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.

Her love and devotion to her family and friends and others was evident to all who was touched by her caring spirit with cards, telephone calls or visits and she will be remembered by all who knew her.

Throughout her life she has been an example of one with great patience and endurance. Her family expresses appreciation to those who have been so supportive to mom.

Darlene is survived by her daughter, Raedell Gibbons, Logan UT; and two sons, Clare (Joni) Richins and Kay (Jill) Richins of Henefer, UT. She was blessed with 9 grandchildren, each on being the joy of her life; Karie Gibbons, Jessica, Colten, Candice, Kendra, Cole, Rhett, Brook and Mikayla Richins. Also surviving are three sisters, Renee (Dee) Crockett, Smithfield, UT, Linda (Travis) Johnson Dayton, ID, Deon (Lee) Carroll, SLC, UT and two brothers, Karl (Angie) Bird and Dale (Bertha) Bird of Mendon, UT.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister Lauralee Leatham.

Mom was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother-always a lady. She will be greatly missed by all. We love you.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at the Henefer 2nd ward Chapel with Grant Dearden conducting. Family and friends may call Tuesday evening Feb. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the Henefer LDS church.

Interment will be in the Henefer City Cemetery.
