Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Darrell E. Mikesell, 83, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016 at his home in Porterville, Utah surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 4, 1933 in Porterville, Utah to Joseph and Martha Francis Lythgoe Mikesell. Darrell married the love of his life, Arnell Judd, on Jan. 14, 1956 in Layton, Utah. The marriage was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.
Darrell graduated from Morgan High School and attended Weber State University. He served in the US Army during the Korean War as a member of the 8th Calvary Regiment, Love Company. Darrell was involved in the Boy Scouts and served in multiple positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including a mission with his wife to the Liberty Park Ward. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, camping, puzzles, spending time with his family, and was an avid sports fan, especially BYU, Utah Jazz, Arizona Cardinals and watching his family play sports.
Surviving are his wife, Arnell; five children; Bobbi (Leon) Medina, Stan (Vicky) Mikesell, Betsy Garr, MaryAnn (Phil) Rock, Arnold (Shauna) Mikesell, 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren with one on the way, and one great great grandchild. Also surviving are two brothers, Abbott (Nancy) Mikesell and Roy (Pat) Mikesell; two sisters, Betsy Mikesell and Joy (Bruce) Snethen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kevin Mikesell; a daughter, Loretta (Roger) Webber; brothers, Richard Mikesell and Stanley Mikesell and one sister, Ella Hill.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017 at 12 noon in the Morgan 6th Ward Chapel in Porterville, Utah. Friends and family may call at Walker Mortuary, 45 West 200 North, Morgan, UT Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday at the church from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.
Interment with military honors will be in the Porterville Cemetery.
