David Carrigan

July 12, 1924 — March 15, 2013

MORGAN a" David Farley Carrigan was born in Ogden, Utah on July 12, 1924 to James William Carrigan and Rachel Farley. He was raised on a ranch in Peterson, Utah, the only child of his parents.

He attended Morgan County schools, graduating in 1942. He attended Weber College and graduated from Utah State University with a BS degree in Chemistry. He then worked at St. Benedicts Hospital as a lab technician. When the Sputnik space shuttle went up in 1957, he applied to the Ogden School District which was in need of science teachers. He was hired on the spot to teach chemistry at Ogden High School, where he taught for 17 years. It was during this time that his great love of baseball played through, and it was said that he was the best shortstop to ever come out of Morgan County.

He was married to Louise Brewer in 1945, who passed away in December of 1947. He was then married to Janet Nixon, the love of his life, in the Logan LDS Temple on August 13, 1965. They made their home in Peterson where David had a farm and raised dairy and beef cattle. David and Janet were blessed with two beautiful children, David Wayne and Christine Joan. They were a great help to their father on the farm and loved spending time with him.

David was an active member of the LDS Church. He served in the presidency of the Quorum of the Seventy in the Morgan Stake, and many other positions in the ward and stake. David and Janet served a mission together in Ireland from June of 1994 to December of 1995. David loved his mission in Ireland, the birthplace of his grandfather; he said it felt like he was going home. He loved the church and the promises of the gospel.

David enjoyed each of his ten grandchildren as they came along. He was always proud of each of their accomplishments and was there for them whenever needed. He loved his family dearly and is survived by his wife Janet; son, David (Rose); daughter, Christine; foster daughter, Irene; and grandchildren Jessica, Ashley, Daniel, Mitchell, Whitney, Byron, Katelyn, Emily, Justin, and Joshua.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Morgan North Stake Center (2755 W. Old Hwy Road, Enterprise, UT). A viewing will take place Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the church and Wednesday prior to the services from 12:00 to 12:45 pm.

Interment will be at Peterson Cemetery.
