Deane Thackeray

Morgan a�" Deane M. Thackeray, 86, died Saturday, August 16, 2008, in Ogden.

She was born March 26, 1922, in Coalville, Utah, a daughter of Zenos and Ida Spriggs Morby. She moved at a young age to Pocatello, Idaho where she graduated from Pocatello High School in 1940. She married John H. "Jack" Thackeray on May 18, 1942 in Pocatello, Idaho. The marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple on July 2, 1988. From this union they had four children.

She was a member of the LDS Church in the Morgan 4th ward. She served in a number of church callings. She was Democratic Chairwoman for 16 years in Morgan County. She actively served in the Morgan PTA, and other committees including the Cancer Society, Red Cross and the March of Dimes.

She and her husband operated a mink and dairy farm in Morgan, Utah and loved the time spent working side by side with her family. They also enjoyed racing quarter horses and the time they spent traveling to races. She loved watching her grandkids participate in their respective activities.

Surviving are her three daughters, Pat (Dave) Wilbert, Riverdale, Sheila (Dennis) Woolsey, Morgan, Chris (Lowell) Murdock, Morgan. She has 13 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Mary Bowen, Ogden, Dorothy Brown, West Haven, Ferol Thackeray, Salt Lake, and brother-in law, Arley J. Wallace, Sunset. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, John P. Thackeray, five sisters and two brothers.

The family would like to express special thanks for Stoney Brooke assisted living, Washington Terrace Health Service, Hearts for Hospice, and Marica.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 1 p.m. in the Morgan Utah Stake Chapel with Bishop James Hendershot officiating. Friends may call at Walker Mortuary in Morgan, Wednesday, August 20, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Thursday, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment, North Morgan Cemetery.
