Henefer--Delbert Calderwood Richins, age 86, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family, June 4, 2008.
In the spring of 1922 in Henefer, Utah, a 12 lb. baby boy was born to Harvey W. and Margaret Calderwood Richins. He married Eillene Wilde of Coalville, Utah, on December 1, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple and was sealed by Spencer W. Kimball.
Delbert was a man dedicated to his family, work, community, and his religion. He served his country in the Army during the end of WWII. He worked at the Ideal Cement Company at Devil Slide, Utah, as the Parts Manager. He taught his children the value of hard work by milking cows, fencing, and hauling hay. He will also be remembered for his homemade bread, water cress, humanitarian quilts, and commitment to his values. He was a kind, compassionate man who was always concerned for the welfare of others.
He was an active member of the LDS faith his entire life. He served in many positions including: Sunday School President, Bishop, Stake Presidency, Missionary, Stake Patriarch, Temple Sealer, and Home Teacher.
Surviving are his wife, Eillene, 2 Daughters and 4 sons; Janet Twiss (Steve) of West Valley; Gregory Richins (Nedra) of Henefer; Nedra Hunsaker (Warren) of Layton; Gary Richins (Jamie) of Kamas; Bart Richins (Cindy) of Enterprise; and Ryan Richins (Rachelle) of Evanston, Wy: 30 Grandchildren; 14 Great-Grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister and one brother; Verda Richins Gunnell of Salt Lake and Arthur Richins of Orem.
Preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, and a daughter-in-law Lori J. Richins.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 9, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Henefer Ward Chapel. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Henefer Cemetery.
