DeOrr John Peterson

DeOrr John Peterson, 95, passed away at his home March 10, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born March 8, 1929 in Ogden, Utah to Phillip and Myrtle Peterson. DeOrr was educated in Morgan, graduating in 1947. DeOrr served his country in the Air Force Reserves and called to active duty during the Korean War. DeOrr married Ardath Loosli, August 16, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. DeOrr served in the church with the North Morgan Bishopric, Elder Quorum President, High Priest group leader, Stake Missionary, Sunday School Superintendent, temple worker, service mission in Inner City Ogden, 13^th ward. Service missionary at Temple Square.

He worked at HAFB for 41 years. He served his community as a city councilman, he was also a member on the planning board, March of Dimes chairman, Red Cross chairman and he served many years in the Morgan Lions Club and as District Governor for the State of Utah. He was awarded the Outstanding Utah Lion of the year in 1980.

His hobbies were cutting wood, camping, hunting with family, and 4 wheeling in the Uintahs with family. His greatest pride and joy is his family. Supporting grandkids in sporting events, concerts, proms, graduation and all they were involved with.

He is survived by his wife Ardath and children. Christine (Dick) Slate, Cheryl (Ralph) Jones, Tamra (Kam) Sargent, Roger (Kelee) Peterson, Richard (JaNae) Peterson, 35 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Marvin Peterson and Glen Peterson.

He is preceded in death by 3 grandsons, Brandon Jones, Nathan Peterson, Blake Peterson, his parents, brothers Jerry Peterson, Dennis Peterson, and sister Sharon Carrigan.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 6-8 pm at Walker Mortuary, 45 W 200 N, Morgan, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 11 am at the Morgan Stake Center, 355 N 700 E, Morgan, Utah. A viewing will be held at the church preceding the funeral from 9:30-10:30 am. Interment will be at the North Morgan Cemetery.
