Derrald Huffman Chappell, 82, passed away June 7, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Born July 4, 1928 in Coalville to William Ernest and Gertrude Huffman Chappell. Graduated from North Summit High School, class of 1946. He married his high school sweetheart, Helen Joyce Bean, June 17, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Helen passed away Sept 14, 2001.
Dad spent his life in Springhollow farming and ranching. He enjoyed his cattle and horses. He was a coal miner, owned Chappell Heating Company, and was a journeyman carpenter, worked construction, rough neck, patent holder of EZ fence bracing system and Erosion control panels. Also self-proclaimed Mayor of Springhollow.
Loved the great outdoors and camping with his family. Loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed playing with and teasing them. He enjoyed many scenic trips with Helen in the mountains of the west delivering his EZ fence to the BLM and Forest Service.
Active in the LDS Church, he served a mission with Helen in Baton Rouge, LA from 1999 to 2001. They were blessed with and proud of their eight wonderful children.
Preceded in death by his parents and brother Merl. Survived by his brothers Eldon (Jean) and Paul. Children: Barbara (Jim) Toole, Mel (Shirley), Tom (Kathy), Joe (Jen), Annette (Ronnie) Moore, Frankie (Don) Donaldson, Brenda (Brian) Hall, Brent (Marie). Grandpa was also very proud of his 42 Grandchildren and 33 Great-Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 13, 2011 at 12 noon in the Coalville Stake Center. Viewings will be held on Sunday, June 12 from 6 -8 p.m. and Monday, June 13, from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. at the Stake Center.
Interment will be at the Coalville City Cemetery
