Diana Ferrin Mortenson, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, wife and friend, passed peacefully on February 28, 2025. Diana was born on September 22, 1942, in Evanston, Wyoming to Leo Josiah Ferrin and Gladys Eardly Ferrin. Her family lived in Lyman, Wyoming, Ontario, California and Bountiful, Utah where she attended school and church. She married James A. Mortenson on March 6, 1958 in the Salt Lake temple. They were later divorced. Diana decided to go back to school after her children were a little older and she graduated from Morgan High School in 1981 with her son, Monty.
Diana loved and treasured her family. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She loved family get togethers. Holidays were for family and she loved nothing more than spending time with them.
She loved to sew and spent many hours sewing for others. She could make just about anything from fabric and thread. She made clothes for her family, doll clothes for her girl’s, tablecloths and napkins for every holiday, curtains, she could do it all. She was truly an artist.
Diana worked at many sewing jobs. She was the supervisor at Morgan Sportswear which later relocated and became Layton Sportswear. The ladies who worked there loved her. She was always asking them about their families and lives. She truly knew and loved her ladies.
She was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She had a strong testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She served in Primary, Young Women’s, Relief Society, Emergency Preparedness, to name a few. She loved the ladies who she was assigned to minister to and those who ministered to her. She had a love for people in general and always tried to see the good in them.
Diana is survived by her children, Nick (Annette), Monty (Shani), Mark, Nannett, Jennifer (Clint) Duncan, her brother Don Ferrin, her former husband and still friend, Jim, 26 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Diana was preceded in death by her mother and father, older brother Mick and one great grandchild.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to all the people who helped Diana in her last few months. From the ambulance drivers, the ER workers, the hospital staff, the rehab centers, and special thanks to Family Tree Assisted Living and especially Corey and Quality Care for all their compassionate service and love.
