MORGAN a�" Donald Porter Brough, 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at the McKay Dee Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born September 11, 1915 to William George and Bessie Porter Brough, the youngest of five children. He lived most of his life in Morgan, residing at the time of his death, in the same home where he was born. On September 3, 1937, he married Vera Francis in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She passed away March 10, 2004. Since that time he has greatly missed his eternal sweetheart, and looked forward to their reunion. They were the parents of five children: Evelyn Palmer, Morgan; Dorothy (Lynn) Page, Syracuse; Don Robert [Bob] (Julia Crabtree), Owasso, Oklahoma; Joyce (Lowell) Johnson, Nibley; and Debra (Kraig) Walker, Morgan. They were loving grandparents to 26 grandchildren, 86 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Donald has always been an active member of the LDS church, serving in numerous positions in all of the organizations. Notably, he served in the Morgan Stake Presidency for 20 years, where he had a great influence on the Church membership throughout all of Morgan County. He and Vera were ordinance workers in the Ogden LDS Temple for over 10 years, and enjoyed the friendship of many people there.
Donald attended BYU, and worked for the Stanolin Oil Company, Sperry Corp., and operated the family farm for many years. He especially enjoyed driving a bus for the Morgan School district for total of 30 years, where he gained the friendship of many of the students and their parents.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ivan George Brough; and sisters, Leila (Glen) Tangren, Pearl (Dean) Rich, and Bessie Jane Brough.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 8, 2007, at 12 p.m. at the Porterville Chapel. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary, 45 West 200 North, Morgan, Utah; or at the Porterville Chapel on Thursday from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Interment will be at the South Morgan Cemetery.
