Morgan a�" Donald Wayne Johanson, 76, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 27, 2007 at Mckay Dee Hospital. Don was born October 14, 1930 in Morgan, Utah to Leonard and Edith Carter Johanson. He will be remembered for his love of family and friends as well as his kind heart and generosity. Don lived in Morgan and graduated from Morgan High School in 1948. After graduation, he moved to California and attended Sacramento College. He returned to Morgan one year later and worked for Jack Olsen Chevrolet in Layton. Moving to Logan with his family in 1951, he attended Utah State University. Don was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and Alpha Kappa Psi Honorary Business Fraternity. Don graduated with a degree in Business Administration and commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force ROTC in 1955. After his commission, he entered the U.S. Air Force specializing as a navigator/bombardier. While enlisted, he was stationed at the following bases: Lackland (San Antonio, TX), Ellington (Houston, TX), Stead (Reno, NV), Wichita, KS and Platsburg, NY. Don was discharged in 1958. After completion of military service, Don worked for Browning Chevrolet and American Can Company in Ogden, Utah. He retired from American Can Company after 20 years of employment. Don never married, but devoted his life to taking care of his ailing father and mother. His other contributions to his family were decorating and caring for family graves and devoted attendance at all family functions and events. Don's hobbies were gardening and genealogy. He also enjoyed traveling, golfing, and skiing. Don was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Don was preceded in death by his father and mother and a brother-in-law, Doug Ovard. He is survived by his brothers and sister: Keith (Grace) Johanson from Morgan, Thelma Ovard from Henefer, Norris (Patti) Johanson from Layton, Bob (Betty) Johanson from Morgan, and Malin (Janice) Johanson from Clinton. Don's untimely passing leaves a huge void in our hearts and family. His example of selflessness, commitment to and love of family, and thoughtful acts of kindness will be remembered and greatly missed. A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary in Morgan, Utah and one hour prior to the service from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. on Friday, August 31. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment will be at the Milton Cemetery in Milton.
