Donna Carrol Steen, Beloved Mother, Wife, Grandmother and Dear Friend, age 77, of Morgan Utah, passed away on July 13, 2022.
Donna was born August 3rd 1944 in Napa California to F. Ronald and Bertha Kingsford. She has one brother William Kingsford. Donna’s family moved to Glen Ellen where she attended elementary school. She loved playing in the creek in Sonoma and catching crawdads. Donna was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and at age 15 she started accepting church callings. She was a chorister for many years in sacrament, taught music to the primary children in her ward, was in the ward choir for many years and loved to sing. She married Michael Lloyd Gray at 21 yrs. old and moved to Colorado and then to Whitefish Montana. Donna had 5 children; Laura (Willard) White, David (Steph) Gray, Amanda Gray, Monica (Brad) Bateman, and Kathrine (Nick) North. A few years after her youngest was born, Donna divorced Mike and moved her family back to Napa where she sacrificed so much for her children, while she worked and went to nursing school. After many hours of hard work and studying she received her LPN! Donna then moved her family to Morgan Utah with her mother Bertha Kingsford and Grandma Orta Prescott, where she worked as a nurse at Clearfield Job Corps for over 20 years.
Donna married Earl William Steen on July 4, 1993 and later they were sealed in the Oakland California Temple on April 22, 1995 for time and all eternity. Later was able to serve a senior service mission with him at Camp Zarahemla in Porterville.
Donna Steen, brought her love of life, the outdoors and horses into the lives of all who knew her.
Donna’s first memories of horses was riding behind her Grandpa. When she was older, Donna would ride in the Napa, CA parade on one of her grandfather’s 4 matched Pinto horses, and won blue ribbons.
When she moved to Morgan, Donna Loved going on trail rides with her friends.
“If we were worried that a trail was too steep, Donna would say it’s Fine and head down, there were several times that we waited to make sure she actually got to the bottom!!!
Donna loved being in the mountains and going camping. Even while studying to be a nurse she found time to take her kids camping and get some work done at the same time. Her son took her in his side by side on adventures down south where she was able to get to beautiful areas otherwise not accessible on foot. Her favorite place to go was to the Uintah Mountains. She loved campfires and smores! She filled her days by watching her children and grandchildren play in the river catching frogs and fish, making forts, digging holes, and making fairy gardens. She loved seeing all the wildlife that would pass through camp. Even if it was too cold outside, she would often jump inside a sleeping bag and sit in a chair by the river.
Christmas was Donna’s Favorite holiday. She loved making oatmeal applesauce cookies and delivering them to friends while caroling and did so until age 76. She would play her accordion while her family sang Christmas songs and read the Christmas story. She loved driving around and seeing all the Christmas lights and her family was always searching for new places to take her with lots more lights.
Surviving are her children, 10 grandchildren and one brother, Bill (Fran) Kingsford.
We will all miss you mom, but until we all gather to camp again, have fun galloping in those beautiful Heavenly Fields above!
We'd like to thank all the many people who lovingly gave service to mom- Her neighbors, family &friends, MacKay Dee Hospital, Weber Human Services, & Susys Senior Companion Care.
Please no flowers! It has been requested that instead you donate to Primary Children’s or to a Diabetes research group. Thank you.
