Donna Marie Walton, 85, was born 25 Oct 1924 and passed peacefully into eternity on August 25, 2010. She will be fondly remembered by those who knew her as constant, patient, kind, and quick to smile.
Donna was born and raised in Blackfoot, Idaho. She worked at Western Union during WWII in Salt Lake City, Utah and San Diego, California before returning to Blackfoot after the war. She married Richard M. Walton on 16 November 1946 in Riverside, Idaho. They were married for 61 years. They lived in many places in southeastern Idaho and Washington State and she was a bookkeeper for Walton Plumbing and Sound Casket Company. They finally settled in Morgan County, Utah where they were very involved in the community. Donna nursed her husband, Dick, through his last illness and didn't like living alone.
Donna loved flowers and could often be seen working happily in her garden. She made every home that she lived in bloom with flowers inside and out. Donna sang baritone with a Sweet Adeline chorus while in Washington where she traveled to regional competitions. She loved singing with her girls and sang in many church meetings and family gatherings. She sang in the Morgan Utah Centennial Choir and could remember the words to 80 years worth of music. When her daughters were young, she loved to dance with them to the music of Lawrence Welk. She was an excellent seamstress and would make clothing for herself and the girls. She enjoyed crocheting pot holders for everyone.
Donna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as music director in Relief Society for 10 years and was a dedicated visiting teacher. She also volunteered at the Morgan County Library.
She was the oldest daughter of Melissa Wright and Bert R. Sibbett. She will be missed by her sister, Bertie North, daughters Dixie (Wayne) Miller, of Morgan, Utah and Linda (Bud) Schmitz of Kenmore, Washington; 7 grandchildren, Jenny (Jerry), Karl, Rich (Chandra), Jeff (Jana), Emily (Ryan), Diana, Carin (Greg) and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Richard Palmer. Special thanks to the staff and doctors at Ogden Regional Hospital, Applegate Hospice and to Dee, Mary and Cindy of the Morgan Ambulance.
