Doyle Heiner

MORGAN - Our loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and friend, Doyle Porter Heiner, 87, passed away January 30, 2013 peacefully during the night in the arms of his devoted wife.

He was born July 12, 1925 in Stoddard, Utah to Royal Oscar Heiner and Weatha Porter. Doyle married the love of his life Betty May Taylor on June 3, 1948 for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Doyle was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a full-time mission in the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Mission with his wife Betty. He also served in the Ogden Temple and in the Bishopric of the Stoddard Ward. He was always a missionary and had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Doyle grew up in Morgan and attended Morgan High School. Due to a car accident involving his father, Doyle sacrificed graduating to help his father run their farm. Education was always important to him, so he eventually received his high school diploma in the presence of all eight of his children.

Doyle had the ability to acquire, retain and apply knowledge in remarkable ways. If it was broken, he could fix it. If it didn't exist, he could build it. If it was built, he could improve it. Doyle built two homes, one in Clinton, Utah and the second in Stoddard where he lived with his wife for the last 41 years. He was known to be a great mechanic. He is quoted to say, "The difficult we do right now, the impossible takes a little longer." Doyle was also an avid fisherman, hunter, and loved camping with his family as long as there was a fishing hole nearby.

Doyle's first job was working as a mechanic at Heiner Ford and has loved Fords ever since. He then worked at Marquart as a Journeyman Machinist. He finished his career as an equipment specialist at HAFB where he worked for 32 years. He also spent 20 years on the ski patrol for Snow Basin and Powder Mountain so his family could spend their Saturdays together.

Doyle was very proud of his posterity and leaves behind a great legacy, including 20 Eagle Scouts and four Silver Beavers. He is survived by his wife Betty of 64 years, their eight children, 34 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren with three more on the way. His children are Dan (Julie) Heiner, Rozann (Robert) Petersen, Joanne (William) Blood, Carol (Don) Durrant, Scott (Kathryn) Heiner, Brent (Susan) Heiner, Suzann (Tim) Walters, and Joy (Michael) Sandberg. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren and was the last surviving sibling of eight children.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 4, 2013 at 12 noon at the Milton LDS Church (1255 North Morgan Valley Drive, Morgan, UT). A viewing will be held at the Milton Church Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.

Interment will be at the Milton Cemetery.
