Dwayne Clifford Richins passed away peacefully at his home in Henefer on Thursday, October 14, 2010. He was 75. He was born in Coalville, Utah on June 20, 1935 the oldest child of Clifford Seymour Richins and Ivy Elaine Wilde. The family eventually moved to Bountiful, Utah where he spent his childhood and most of his adult life.
Throughout his teenage and adult years, Dwayne helped his father with the family sheep ranching business. He enjoyed the work and kept busy with the many year-round responsibilities associated with tending to the sheep. He spent much time in Utah's West desert, the Huntsville Valley and Cottonwood Canyon (Morgan County) moving the sheep between winter, spring and summer ranges. While Dwayne liked farm animals, he had a particular fondness for dogs and a knack for training them. He was an avid fisherman. When the sheep were sold, he and his father spent their summers traveling throughout Utah to their favorite fishing holes. He seemed to know just what lure to use to catch the fish. He was also gifted at braiding, and liked reading and reciting poetry and roller-skating. He had a special relationship with friends and first cousins and enjoyed the time and trips they spent together. He was appreciative of the many kindnesses shown to him by friends and family members. He was a member of the Henefer 2nd Ward. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother, Marlan Kent. He is survived by his sister, Carol Stephens; brother-in-law, Gale; three nephews; two nieces; and 18 grand nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held on Friday October 22, 2010 in the Henefer Ward Chapel at 11 a.m. Family and friends may pay respects from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment will be at 3 p.m. in the Bountiful Cemetery.
