Earl Willoughby

September 2, 1929 — August 20, 2012

COALVILLE - Earl Blaine Willoughby, age 82, passed from this life on August 20, 2012, due to complications from multiple illnesses. Earl was born on September 2, 1929, the second of four sons born to Leonard and Vivian Willoughby. He was born in Coalville, Utah, and spent his entire life there. At the age of 12 he proposed to his lifetime sweetheart, Joye Huffman. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple when Earl was 17 years old. They have two children, Lynette and Michael.

Earl was a very talented, hardworking man who spent his life putting others ahead of himself. Earl worked in the Chappell Coal Mine, on the construction of the Duchesne Tunnel, as a mechanic for Moore Motor, and Supervisor of Transportation for North Summit School District. He worked many late evenings repairing the vehicles of community members in his Aloma Repair shop. Earl co-owned and managed the Loma Theater in Coalville with his in-laws for many years. Joye and Earl owned and operated their own truck, driving cross country as a sleeper team for IML Eagle Division and loved the time they spent traveling together. One of Earl's favorite jobs was driving the children of the North Summit School District for 35 years.

Earl is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joye Huffman Willoughby and by his son Michael (Louise) Willoughby of Coalville and his daughter Lynette (Bruce) Gittins of Hyrum, Utah; 8 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and his brother Phillip Willoughby of Keizer, Oregon. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Leonard Jr. and Glen Willoughby. The family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors and staff of the hospitals and care facilities that cared for him in the last weeks of his life.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 23rd at noon at the Coalville LDS Stake Center. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral services from 9:45-11:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Coalville City Cemetery.
