Edwin Thompson Stevens passed away peacefully at home with his loving family on August 26, 2008. He was born on April 5, 1919 to John P. and Gertrude Wright Stevens in Henefer, UT where he lived his entire life on the family farm. He was a man of many talents and interests, gaining the respect of family and community for those talents.
Dad joined the Army before the outbreak of World War II in 1941. After the war he traveled to California where he married his lifelong sweetheart, Thelma June Trussell, on Feb. 17, 1946 in Visalia, CA. They were later sealed together in the Salt Lake Temple on June 17, 1964. They shared 62 wonderful years together.
During his life he worked in construction, welding and farming. He will always be an example of hard work to those who knew him. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and almost anything else that involved the outdoors. He was a man of integrity who had a strong love for his family.
Surviving are his loving wife Thelma, children Karen (Steven) Vereen, Barbara (Jeff) Atwood, Yvonne (Randy) Judd and Bryant (Tami) Stevens, 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, along with his sister Doris Clark, brother-in-law Donald Trussell and sister-in-law Ana Marie Johnson. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lawrence and Syd, and his sister Vera.
The Family would like to express their heart-felt thanks to the Alpine Home Care and Hospice staff.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008 at 11:00 am in the Henefer LDS Church. Friends and family may visit at the church Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 pm or Saturday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 am.
