Elliott D. Koldewyn, passed away at his home due to heart complications, January 14, 2009... seven years to the date that his loving wife, Marge, also passed.
Elliott was born to Clement Koldewyn and Agnes Greenwell on March 6, 1920 in Ogden, Utah where he was a lifelong resident. He was the eldest of three sons, Elliott, Vern and Robert Koldewyn. Elliott married Marge Garner on October 28, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were proud parents of Craig Elliott and Karla Jean.
Elliott was a very giving and helpful man. He was a jack of all trades and everyone loved his generosity. His intuitive scientific mind brought about different ways to improve anything mechanical. He was a fun storyteller; he loved his music dearly, especially from the organ; and Elliott grew the best raspberries!
As a young man, he worked for Western Union, logging many miles on his bicycle. Then he was employed during World War II as an aircraft ignition/carburetor mechanic at Hill Air Force Base. He retired after 30 years of service with Mountain Fuel Supply Company as gas instruments and measurement technician. Elliott was a great care giver for his dear wife, Marge, in her later years. In his later years, Elliott and his close friend, Norma Brown, enjoyed their companionship and attended many musical programs and other functions together.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife and his son. He is survived by his brothers; daughter, Karla (Bruce) Yuhas; daughter-in-law, Susan Valentine Koldewyn, and niece Joye Hunt. He loved his four grandsons and six great grandchildren very much.
His life will be honored at a viewing Monday, January 19th at the South Ogden 4th Ward, 4075 Orchard Ave., from 6 to 8 p.m. Relatives and close friends will gather at a memorial graveside service on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at the South Morgan Cemetery, 351 S. State Street, Morgan, Utah at 11 a.m.
The family is very grateful to all who helped Elliott, especially Julie Burchill at the heart Clinic and his hospice nurse, Sandy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Intermountain Health (Hospice) Care.
