Eloise Martineau

After 86 bountiful years, Eloise A. Martineau, left this earth in peaceful flight. Eloise was the daughter of Eli and Ella Anderson of Bothwell. She grew up with seven bothers and three sisters. Schooling began in Tremonton and Bothwell and she graduated from Bear River High in 1942. After two years at Utah State, Eloise earned her nursing degree from the Thomas Dee Nursing school in 1948. Eloise married John R. Martineau on June 6, 1947. The Martineau's settled in Morgan where they raised their six children. Eloise was a tireless contributor to her family and community. In Morgan, she was a Cub Scout Den Mother and she was an active 4-H Leader for 25 years. Eloise was a Charter Member and past President of the Morgan Culturettes Club and along with her husband, a active participant in the Morgan Lions Club. Eloise was also a participant in the Morgan LDS Relief Society. She made important contributions as a volunteer for the Red Cross and March of Dimes. She also invested time with statewide organizations. Eloise was an active member in the Weber County Medical Auxiliary where she was President, 1979-80. She was also a past President of the Utah State Medical Auxiliary. One of her favorite activities was her work and association with the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She also served as a docent for the LDS Museum of Church History and Art. Eloise was an antique buff and she enjoyed arts and crafts. In the last decade Eloise became quite a world traveler with trips to France, England, Germany, Ireland, Italy and a cruise to the Panama Canal. Preceded in death by her husband John, she is survived by brother Keith; children Ellen Hedani in Hawaii, Russ in Oregon, Evan Kirk in California, Thales, Lynn and Edward all in Utah; six grandchildren and nine great grand children. Funeral services will be held at the 11th Morgan Ward on Field Street, Wednesday, February 16th at 11 AM. A viewing will be February 15th, 6-8 PM at Walker Mortuary and on the 16th from 9:45-10:45 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers please send your contribution in her name to the Morgan County Library.
