On November 12, 2009, with family by his side, LeRoy Grant, age 70, passed away after a courageous two year battle with cancer. LeRoy was born to Elva Thomson and Ernest Artell Grant on May 26, 1939. LeRoy married Linda Lee Garfield in 1959. They were commemorating their 50th anniversary at the time of his passing. Coalville, Utah became their home, and together they spent much of their time camping, traveling, hunting and fishing with their three children: Sheri, Mike and Darrin. Because LeRoy was passionate about providing opportunities for his children and other youth, he became instrumental in developing several recreational leagues in youth basketball, baseball and ladies softball.
LeRoy worked 43 years for the UDOT, and served as an Area Supervisor, retiring at the completion of the 2002 Winter Olympics. He was ambitious and hardworking, a giver not a taker, a tease to his nephews and nieces, and fondly known to friends and family as "Elrod or PeRoy".
After retiring, he found new hobbies in "NASCAR," trips to Jackson Hole, and especially spending time with his ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. They will miss his fun ways.
LeRoy is survived by his loving wife; daughter, Sheri (Russ) Shafto of Robertson, WY; two sons: Mike (Becky) Grant of Hoystville, UT; and Darrin (Chris) Grant of Billings MT; brothers: Mike Grant, Dave Grant, Bob Grant; and sister, Mary Etta Simpson.
Preceded in death by his parents; Brent Grant (brother); and Karen Richins (sister-in-law).
Special thanks to Alpine Home Health Staff for their excellent care and love.
