Eugene Blonquist

June 21, 1929 — February 25, 2008

"Would 'ja like me to give ya some knowledge"

Our dear husband, dad, grandpa, brother and friend passed away on Monday, February 25, 2008, after defying medical science for thirty-six years with his wit, wisdom and sense of humor. He was born to Melv and Cassie Blonquist on June 21, 1929 in Coalville, Utah. He married the "love of his life," Afton Wright on November 11, 1950 in Salt Lake City. Together they were blessed with three children, Blair Eugene (Denise) Blonquist, Blaine Craig (Launa) Blonquist and Gena (Glen) Black. Eugene and Afton have nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

As a young boy, he was the epitome of mischief and never missed an opportunity to make a friend. In high school he played football and enjoyed many high school activities and dances. He graduated from North Summit High School in 1948 and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, 1951-1953.

After working for Mountain Fuel for several years, he then devoted his time to the Blonquist Family Mink Ranch. Eugene and Afton raised their family working together while teaching the principles of hard work and dedication. When Dad wasn't telling stories or serving others, you could find him supporting his children and grandchildren in their music, sporting and rodeo events.

He will live on forever in our hearts, always our Hero. We will miss that sparkle in his eyes, him spinning his hat when nervous and his "never ending knowledge". You always knew where Dad was as soon as you heard that one of a kind laugh!

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill Blonquist, sisters Dean Zumbrunnen, and Marion Little. He is survived by his wife, children and his sister Ginger Wright.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Steven Horton and his staff for their many years of kindness and compassion.

A viewing will be held at the Coalville Stake Center on Thursday, February 28, 2008, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 29, 2008, at the Coalville Stake Center at 11:30 a.m. A viewing will also be held 10 to 11:15 a.m. prior to the services. The family would like to extend an invitation to family and friends to celebrate his life. Interment will be in the Coalville City Cemetery.

In remembrance of Eugene, always do as he did, "Pay It Forward," and "remember, whatever you do, have a great day and keep smilin'!"
