Fern Shill

HENEFER - Fern Shill, age 93, passed away on the morning of March 22, 2009 of causes incident to age. Fern was born in Peterson, Utah on November 28, 1915 to Edgar Garder and Lucy Pearl Richins Garder. She grew up on the family farm and attended Morgan High School. She married Dearl V. Shill on June 8, 1935 in Ogden, Utah. They made their home in Henefer, Utah where they lived for over sixty years. It was there they raised their two sons, Jimmie and Marty.

Fern was a member of the LDS church. She loved nature, camping on the Bear River, gardening and quilting bees at Relief Society meetings. She loved animals, especially cats and cared for many throughout her life.

Fern is survived by her sons: Jimmie Dearl Shill (Elizabeth) Raleigh, North Carolina; John Martin Shill (Corky) Taylorsville, Utah; sister, Nola Wahlstrom, Riverdale, Utah; 12 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren.

Fern was preceded in death by her husband, Dearl; two sisters, Fay Wilde and Lola (Peggy) Weaver; and one brother, Milton Richins.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 27, 2009 at 12:00 noon at the Walker Mortuary in Morgan, Utah, 45 West 200 North, Morgan, Utah. Friend and family may call at the mortuary one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Interment, Henefer City Cemetery.
