Morgan

Floyd Ransom Andersen (93), of Morgan, Utah, passed away on April 5, 2024.

Floyd was born to Fred and Elvira Andersen on February 15th, 1931, in Clifton, ID, 14th of 15 children.  The family later moved to a beautiful ranch on a slope in Cove, UT. overlooking the valley.

Floyd loved to travel and began wandering at a young age. Making his way to Coeur d’Alene to work while still in his teens. Floyd joined the Navy in 1948 and was discharged in 1952.

Floyd never lost his wanderlust.  In April 1956, he married Joyce Ann Stokes from Franklin ID.  Joyce joined him in all his adventures, traveling for work and pleasure with an 8 mm camera recorder to document their travels.   Within the next 10 years, they were joined by 4 children, all born in different locations, but they had settled in Roy UT by the time the 4th was born.

Later, Floyd and Joyce decided to build a house in Porterville, UT, and moved in 1972.   While living in Roy and Porterville, Floyd worked for Hill Air Force Base in the missile division until he was able to take an early retirement at the age of 48, the first of his many ‘retirements.’  Floyd then worked at many other endeavors.

They stayed in Porterville until their children were out of school, then they began to wander again.  Although they did not sell their house, they moved to Wilsonville, OR, in 1983 to run a business.

After returning to Porterville for a few years, Floyd and Joyce moved to Billings, MT, to help run, and later purchase, Village Inn Pizza Parlor.   They bought a condo in Billings and split their time between Porterville and Billings for more than 20 years.

Floyd returned to stay in Porterville as he was nearing 90 years old, with just a couple of trips a year to Billings.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Joyce, their 4 children, Cindy Andersen, Steven Andersen (Amber), Vicki Sims (Randy), and Desna Bergold (Karl Verhaeren), 11 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.  Also, his final remaining sibling, Loyal Andersen.

The family will be hosting funeral services at the Walker Mortuary at 45 W 200 N St Morgan UT, on Thursday, April 11th, 2024, at 11:00 am. A visitation will be held from 10-10:45 am before the services.
