Frank Levy

Frank Rowe Levy was born January 20, 1933 in Los Angeles, California to Leo Morris Levy and Emily Isabelle Waller. He returned to his heavenly home April 10, 2014.

Frank was an only child. He was drawn to adventures in Morgan County with his cousins.

He developed a life-long passion for the outdoors and animals. He was always seen with a dog in his arms.

While a student at South High he met and lost his heart to Willene Welch. He walked miles to see her every night. Theirs was a whirlwind courtship.

They were married August 24, 1949 and have spent the last 65 years weathering sunny days and the challenges of life together.

Two daughters were born those first four years but his life was not complete until he got his boy 13 years later! Frank Mike was his pride and joy.

Early in their marriage, while working as a bus boy at a Salt Lake restaurant, Frank realized that his income wasn’t adequate to support his growing family. With advice from his best friend and life coach, Bob North, he joined the union and began his apprenticeship program as a structural steel iron worker with local 27. He was most happy when he was 20 stories up in the air with no safety harness on. He delighted in showing his family the buildings, dams, bridges, and sky rises where ‘daddy worked’. Daily he faced challenges of weather, danger, and frequent injuries, but seldom complained. He made life-ling friends and buddies doing so.

Frank was a self-taught mechanic for over 65 years. He worked on cars with his best pal, Ken Harvey, his son, and his grandsons.

Some of his hobbies included spending time welding, building, or repairing things and watching/playing with his beloved animals. He loved his jeeps and enjoyed going on road trip and family outings. He journeyed to Wyoming, Nevada, Dead Horse Point, and Kodiak, Alaska for employment, but he didn’t enjoy being gone. His heart was always at home.

He retired as a journeyman ironworker of 30 years.

The family lived in Murray, West Jordan, and finally back in Morgan where his ‘roots’ were. It was here that dad found happiness. He was free to wander, tinker, and work outside to his heart’s content. He would sometimes be gone for hours and could be found with his horses, riding his four wheelers, or visiting with friends and neighbors.

He loved the peaceful view from his front porch, the family cookouts, and visits to the mountain property.

Frank was known by his grandkids for his fun sense of humor. His family recognized his positive outlook on life when he said, “Don’t worry about it, things will work out in the end.

Even as he aged, he continued to fight the many adversities that life dealt him. He never gave up! Frank exemplified hard work, sacrifice, and loyalty to the woman and family he loved.

He is survived by his sweet wife Alice Willene Levy, Morgan; a son, Frank Mike Levy (Vanessa – our earthly angel), Morgan; daughters Deana Hafen (Bill), Kaysville, Linda Hamaker (Charles), West Point; 7 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Will Mulvaney, son-in-law Gene Hafen, grandson, Michael Agnello, great-granddaughter  Hannah Hafen, and a special brother-in-law who met him with open arms – Ken Harvey.

Thanks also to the nurses and staff at Crestwood Rehab who went beyond the call of duty.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 12 noon at the Morgan Stake Center (355 N. 700 E.) A viewing will precede the services from 10:45 to 11:45 at the church. Interment will take place at the South Morgan Cemetery.
