MORGAN- George Alfred (Alf) Turner, age 96, passed away November 24, 2010. He was born June 27, 1914 to George Charles Turner and Lucy Malinda Robison in Morgan, Utah.
He was a lifelong resident of Morgan where he attended public schools and graduated from Morgan High School. Alf married Marie Sarah Gibson Turner on January 18, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple. Their life together was full of love and devotion for each other. He lovingly cared for Marie in the remaining years of her life. They were blessed with two sons, Don Alfred and Darrel George Turner.
For 33 years, he worked as a mechanic for Del Monte Corporation starting at the plant in Morgan and later in Ogden. He also worked seven years for the Morgan county school district. He was always an active, faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints. He served in a Bishopric, as High Priest Group Leader and as an Ogden Temple Worker, as well as many other church callings. He also served as a scout master and a troop committee chairman for the Boy Scouts of America. He was a quality craftsman at wood working, especially lathe work, making beautiful lamps, bowls, tables, and plant stands. He also enjoyed raising beef cattle, and working in his yard and garden. He was a master gardener, always sharing his abundant harvest with family, friends, and neighbors. He loved being with his family. He was a noble, kind, generous man, with great wit and wisdom. He faithfully finished his course in mortality and has left a legacy of righteousness and faithfulness with a strong testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ for his family. He is survived by his son Darrel (Coleen) of Perry, UT, his daughter-in-law Lorraine of Milton, UT, 9 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son Don, and all his brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010, at 12:00 noon at the LDS 12th Ward building (Rock Church), 10 West Young St., Morgan, UT with a viewing to be held Friday, November 26 from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary 45 W 200 N, Morgan, UT and Saturday, November 27 from 10:45 to 11:45 at the church. Interment, South Morgan Cemetery.
