HOYTSVILLE a�" Glen Siddoway, 88, passed away March 13, 2009 in Hoytsville, Utah. Glen was born September 2, 1920 in Rockport, Utah to Robert Dawson and Emma Matilda (Cossey) Siddoway. He was the youngest of ten children and the last remaining. He spent his childhood in Rockport, where he attended grade school in the one-room school and then attended North Summit High School in Coalville. He worked in the mines in Park City and during that time married his childhood sweetheart, Leila Vernon on Dec. 19, 1942 in Rockport.
Glen and Leila lived in Rockport and he worked on the ranch for many years for his brother, Keith. He also helped Keith in starting the Spring Chicken Inn. When the Rockport Dam was built, they moved to Hoytsville where they owned and operated the V. & S. Store. He worked for the Bureau of Reclamation, built homes for Frank Bullock, and then went to work for North Summit School District where he worked as the maintenance supervisor and also drove the school bus. He retired in 1985.
He was a devoted husband and father. He and Leila enjoyed a close loving relationship for 66 years. He leaves a legacy of hard work and making sure the job was done right.
He had a unique sense of humor and could tell some colorful stories of days gone by. He enjoyed traveling, especially Hawaii; also boating, snowmobiling, fishing, camping and family get-togethers. He was an excellent woodworker and could make or repair anything. He spent countless hours in his work shop making projects to give away to his family and friends.
He was a High Priest in the LDS Church and their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He is preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers: Ross, Robert, William, Wallace, Keith, Farren, Fred and Lloyd; and one sister, Florence.
He is survived by his wife, Leila; daughter, Sharon (Kay) Richins; sons: Gary (Nan Stain) Siddoway and Kenneth (Susan) Siddoway; 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and two expected next month.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 12 Noon in the Hoytsville Ward Chapel. Friends may call on Tuesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church and Wednesday morning from 10:45 to 11:45 prior to the funeral.
