Gordon Bond

June 14, 1925 — June 14, 2012

Our husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather and friend, Gordon Barnes Bond passed from this mortal existence on June 14, 2012 to celebrate his 87th birthday in his eternal home with his family and friends.

He was born June 14, 1925, in Henefer, Utah, to Nephi Alma and Emily Ingeborg Inkley Bond. He grew up in Henefer and graduated from North Summit High School. He attended LDS Business College and was a veteran of World War II. For three years he would send a dollar in almost every letter he sent to his sweetheart, Beverly Francis, while he was away at war. They were married for time and all eternity Friday, February 13, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Morgan and raised their family in two different homes that he built by himself.

He would come home after working a full day at the plant and work into the night on their home. He would drop on a cot only to get a few hours of sleep before going back to work.

He served in numerous callings in the church including the scouting program and also served many years as a ward clerk. He was on the Morgan City Council for four years and was very active in the community.

He worked at the Ideal Cement Plant at Devil's Slide for 40 years, and spent many happy hours snowmobiling, fishing, camping and going four-wheeling at the sand dunes with his family and friends. Many of their vacations were spent with Beverly's twin sister, Barbara, her husband Lloyd Gustaveson and their family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, two daughters, Judy (Stuart) Wilkinson, of Morgan, and Teresa (DellRay) Anderson of Tremonton. He has eight grandchildren: Shane (Alyson) Wilkinson, Traci (Derrick) Glass, Katie (Ryan) Wilson, Kalee (Jonathan) Aaron, Aubrey (Eric) Lowder, Heidi (Nic) Cutler, Ryan Anderson, and Britney Anderson. He also has ten great grandchildren: Kadyn, Cambry, Skylar, Ryker, Nicson, Mykah, Joclyn, Jake, Kenzly and Whitly. He is also survived by 3 siblings: Clint (Marge) Bond of Henefer, Dean (LaBelle) Bond of Ogden and Helen (Ray) Anderson of Peoa. He was preceded in death by his siblings Jay Bond, Buelah Stephens, Milt Bond and Roy Bond.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Morgan Stake Chapel, 355 North 700 East, Morgan. A viewing will be held Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary in Morgan and on Tuesday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the church.

Interment will be at the South Morgan Cemetery.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Alpine Hospice, especially to Tami and Justin, for the kind service and love that was received and felt while they were in his home. A special thanks to Dr. Holland and staff for the friendship and care that they gave.
