Gordon William Hansen died peacefully at his home in Morgan, Utah, on July 18, 2008, of complications from a long battle with diabetes. He was 81. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, January 13, 1927 to Minnie Huntsman and Delbert Chauncey Hansen.
When he made the journey to the next world, Gordon was content as he was surrounded by his children, grandchildren and life-long sweetheart, Connie Jean Sparks Hansen. He was the second of two children, his sister, Della Lee (Bench) were raised in Salt Lake City where he graduated from South High School in 1943. Two years later he launched into life by marrying Connie on June 26, 1944, and then leaving shortly thereafter for foreign seas as a Midshipman Merchant Marine on the Judah P. Benjamin during World War II. Gordon and Connie began their family and made their home in Salt Lake City, Rose Park, Alhambra, CA and eventually Morgan, UT. They gave their marriage and family the promise of the eternities when they sealed their love and their family in the Salt Lake Temple in March of 1956.
He and Connie have five children: Gordon Condon (Lisa) of Eagle Mountain, UT; Kevin William (Cheryl) and Cory Desmond (Karen), both of Moreno Valley, CA; Lisa Jean DuprAC. (GastA�n) of Morgan, UT and Leslie Ann Keys (Steven) of Lakewood, CO. They have 23 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. Gordon had a successful career in the transportation industry as a Greyhound Bus Driver from which he retired. Afterwards, he enjoyed his role as the Emergency Maintenance and Safety Supervisor at Paramount Pictures in Los Angeles. During a major studio fire, Gordon saved the studio immeasurable time and money by his fast and accurate actions. He received a Letter of Recognition from the Los Angeles Fire Department for "actions demonstrating a high level of responsibility and initiative which provide an excellent example for others to follow." And this is how Gordon led his life, whether it be in his life's work or the Lord's work, whether as a Bus Driver or a Ward Missionary, Gordon always demonstrated a high level of responsibility and did his duty to a measurable level of excellence and was an example for others to follow in that respect.
Funeral Services for Gordon will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Enterprise Chapel, 2755 W. Old Highway Road. Friends and family may call at the church from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the services. Interment will be the Peterson Cemetery.
