Morgan - Our loving husband, father, and grandfather, Grant Joseph (Joe) Carter, 82, of Morgan, passed away at home of kidney failure on January 24, 2009.
Grant was born December 12, 1926 in Porterville, Utah to Walter Carter and Lillie May Durrant Carter.
He married Phyllis Carter on March 20, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Grant attended Morgan High School, graduating in May of 1945.
He was a member of the LDS Church and was ordained a High Priest by Apostle Marion D. Hanks. He has been a scout leader, home teacher and second counselor in the Morgan 5th Ward Bishopric.
Grant was a full-time employee of Del-Monte Corporation for 33 years. He was warehouse foreman for ten years until retiring in January of 1983.
Grant loved to dance. He enjoyed deer hunting, camping, fishing and caring for his farm. He had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis and their five children: Rodney (Peggy) Carter; Karen Baca; Carolyn (Barry) Christensen, all of Morgan; Janet (Randy) Tobler of Glenrock, Wyoming; and Joleen Souter of Roy; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 12 Noon at the Porterville Chapel, 2700 S. Morgan Valley Drive. Family and friends may call Wednesday, January 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 45 W. 200 N. in Morgan, and Thursday at the Porterville Church, from 10:45 to 11:45, prior to services.
Interment, South Morgan Cemetery.
