Helen Boyer

January 26, 1918 — October 1, 2008

Helen Maxine Winters Boyer passed away Wednesday October 1, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. She endured the ravages of osteoporosis; the disease stole her ability to do many of the things she loved, but did not take her warmth and spunk.

Helen was born Jan 26, 1918 in Hoytsville, Utah to Clarence and Della Winters. Helen loved growing up in Hoytsville and cherished her childhood memories. Helen married Lyle Emerson Boyer, and their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. Shortly after Lyle and Helen were married, they moved to Coalville, to the home where they lived for over 70 years.

Helen's life was an example of hard work; every project was completed with exactness. She could do anything she put her mind to and developed many talents including cooking, carpentry, yard work, and playing the wash tub in the Senior Citizen Band. Of her many talents, Helen's accomplished sewing skills brought her the most joy. She perfected her sewing ability by making all of her daughters' clothes from wedding dresses to tailored suits. Her home was a great source of pride and a reflection of her hard work.

Helen's lasting legacy to the community was her service as a nurse at the Summit County Hospital. During her 27 year nursing career, she assisted in delivering over 200 babies and gave loving tender care to all she treated. Helen was active in the LDS Church throughout her life, where she offered many hours of compassionate service. In addition to her many talents, she had a great sense of humor, and quick wit; she loved to tease and being teased in return. She was the inspiration that brought about change in those who loved her.

Helen's greatest joy was her family; she loved hearing of their successes and grieved with them in their challenges. She was the mother of; Glen Boyer (Royanne), Luana Lewis, Louise McPherson (Rex), Roy Boyer (Ginny), Betty Piesley (Paul), Bonnie Jones (Hal), Lori Rees (Mike), 23 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle, her son Roy and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 12 noon at the Coalville LDS Stake Center. Family and friends may call at the church Monday from 6 pm to 8 pm and Tuesday from 10:45 am to 11:45 pm.

The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to the staff of Alpine Home Health Care for their kind service which allowed Helen to stay in the home she loved and to the staff of Aspen Ridge for the loving care extended during these past few weeks.
