Herbert Crittenden

April 21, 1929 — July 5, 2008

PETERSON-Our Beloved Father, Brother, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, Herbert N. Crittenden, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, July 5, 2008.

He was born on April 21, 1929, in Ogden, Utah, to George Carroll Crittenden and Luella Nicholas Crittenden. Dad grew up in Ogden and attended Ogden City schools and Weber College. In 1949, Dad married Jeraldine Johnson. Together, they have 5 children. They later divorced. Dad was married to Georgia Lee Newton until the time of her death in April, 2006. He was employed at Hill Air Force Base for 30 years retiring at age 52. He then worked part time as a state brand inspector in Morgan County. Dad also served 1 term as Morgan County commissioner and dedicated his life to community service. Dad loved to do a little farming and was a very passionate hunter and outdoor sportsman. He was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He faithfully served in many callings, including Counselor in the Bishopric and was a Home Teacher for many years. Grandpa Herb cherished spending Sunday afternoons surrounded by his loving family.

Surviving are his children, Brenda (Scott) Carnahan, Colette (Sam) Cooper, Johnny (Colleen) Crittenden, Nancy (Clay) Anderson, Gail (David) Bell and step children Jody (Dale) Lake, Troy (Debbie) Reynolds & Rodney (Sarah) Bair. Gramps has 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Don (Marjorie), Charles (Gloria), Carroll (Alice), his sister, Martha Ann (Harold) Donaldson and sister-in-law, Paula Crittenden.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul N. Crittenden, his mother and father.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Applegate Hospice and all the special nurses who took care of dad and a special thanks to Lola, Wendy and Patty.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 11 am in the Morgan North Stake Chapel, 2755 West Old Highway Road, Morgan County, Utah. Friends and family may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm and Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 at the Morgan North Stake Chapel.

Interment, South Morgan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Herb wished that donations be made to the Perpetual Education Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or your favorite charity.
