Jan Markowski
September 24, 1943 — May 30, 2017
Jan Porter Markowski, 73, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at her home in Ogden, Utah.
She was born Sept. 24, 1943 along with her twin sister Janet, to Lawrence Russell and Barbara Carter Porter.
Jan married Emerson L. Thompson on Aug. 6, 1960. Her four children were born to this marriage. They were later divorced. She married Byron Markowski on Dec. 22, 1994.
She worked at Golden State Casting and Freeport Center for several years. Jan loved cooking, flowers and gardening, birds and animals, and reading. Jan was a giving person and would take her shoes off to give them to a homeless person.
Surviving are her husband Byron; two sons and two daughters, Rex Thompson, Riverside, Calif.; Cindy Eccles, Ogden, Utah; Mike (Ellen) Thompson, Ogden, Utah; Heidi (Mike) Ferring, Newhall, Iowa; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Also surviving are six siblings, Janet Waller, Dionne Halverson, Ted Porter, Julia Porter, Becky Heiner and Bart Porter.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Stokes and a brother, Gary Porter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Morgan LDS Rock Church, 10 West Young Street, Morgan, Utah. A viewing will be held at Walker Mortuary, 45 West 200 North, Morgan, Utah, on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment will be in the South Morgan Cemetery.
