Janice returned peacefully to her Father in Heaven on February 9, 2017 in Lakeland, Florida at age 70. She was born on July 22, 1946 in Ogden, Utah to Marjorie Rollins and August Rose. She was raised in Morgan, Utah with her two sisters, Marilyn and LuRinda, and her brother Auggie. Janice went to Morgan High School and graduated in 1964. She continued her education at Weber State University and graduated with a nursing degree in 1976. She was employed at Dee Hospital, University Medical Center in Salt Lake City, and later joined her sister Marilyn on United Airlines as a nurse stewardess. Janice and Marilyn were best friends and traveled the world together. Janice continued her career in nursing until she became a mother, her greatest calling in life. She was married to Alan Freitas from 1976 to 1996 and had two daughters, Natalie and Jessica. After raising their daughters, she returned to work, assessing children with developmental delays for Early Intervention, Head Start. She always loved working with children at work, church, and home. Children brought a smile to her face.
Janice is a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. In the past five years, she was able to spend more time with her daughters and grandchildren. She loved being a grandma and simply adored her eight grandchildren.
Janice was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One of her favorite church callings was serving in the Bountiful, Utah temple. She loved the gospel and taught by example. She enjoyed gardening, decorating, spending time with family in the mountains, and relaxing at home.
We love and miss her very much. We look forward to our reunion in heaven someday. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, August and Marjorie Rose. She is survived by her daughters Natalie (Ryan) Moulton, Jessica (Clay) Shorter; eight grandchildren; Sisters Marilyn Rose, LuRinda (Tom) Peterson, and brother Auggie (Melanie) Rose.
Please join our family in celebrating Janice’s life at a viewing in her honor on Friday, February 24th at 6-8pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church building located at 24 South Country Lane, Fruit Heights, Utah.
A private memorial service will take place on Saturday.
