Jean Jones

January 19, 1943 — February 1, 2018

Jean Bunderson Jones, 75, passed away February 1, 2018, following complications from prolonged illnesses. Jean was born in 1943 at Montpelier, Idaho to Bert D’Orr and Verona Bunderson.  She had three sisters including her twin.  The family lived in St. Charles, Idaho where they enjoyed gardening, growing raspberries, helping with their small cattle herd, and bonfires at Bear Lake.  Jean graduated from Fielding High School in Paris, Idaho and then completed her associates degree at Stevens Henegar College in Ogden, Utah. She began working at Thiokol then at Hill Air Force Base.

She met her sweetheart to be, Norris Jones, at a local dance.  He was won over with her cooking of a great steak.  They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in December 1963.  They later moved to Morgan, Utah where they welcomed three daughters.  She also helped care for her niece, Taleese Bunn, for several years following her sister’s passing.

She volunteered with the PTA, Library Board, and as a 4-H leader. She aided in the Morgan celebration of America’s Bi-Centennial. She served faithfully in all of her callings in the auxiliaries of the LDS Church. She returned to the workforce as an in-home daycare provider, fry cook at the local Steph’s drive-in, then once again at HAFB where she retired after 24 combined years.

Jean loved reading books, camping, and traveling for family vacations and Church History/Temple tours.  She belonged to a ladies’ birthday club for over 40 years. Jean was very creative.  She loved sewing, cooking, decorating cakes, making ceramics and home décor projects.  She had an exceptional talent in cross-stitching where she won grand champion several times.  Jean also loved decorating her home with holiday decorations.  Her favorite thing always was time spent with her family and their activities.

Jean had many significant health challenges for the last 20 years.  She endured them well and did all she could.  Her husband’s dedicated, loving support along with her family eased her burdens. The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, specialists and staff along with caring neighbors and church members for their care and concern for Jean.

Jean is survived by her husband, Norris Jones; 3 daughters, Lisa Jones of Morgan, Rachelle (Ryan) Richins of Evanston, WY; and Cathy (Nathan) Wells of West Haven; 2 grand-daughters and their spouses; 5 grandsons; and 1 sister, Nona Bunderson.
