Joan Halls

After living a good life filled with service, friends, family and inspiration to others; on the morning of October 14, 2008, Joan Miller Halls returned to her Heavenly Father to be greeted by loved ones since passed.

Joan was born on November 22, 1961 in Ogden, Utah to Pete and Carolyn Miller. She lived in Morgan her whole life and was surrounded by many friends and family members. She married Kerry Halls on March 18, 1988 and they began a wonderful life together.

Joan enjoyed sewing and it was evident that she was very talented at a young age. She worked in sewing and fabric stores for many years.

Joan and Kerry's whole world changed when they finally received the love of their life, their daughter Jessika. Joan quit her job so she could stay at home and spend all of her time with her daughter. She was blessed to see Jessika grow into a beautiful girl. Everyone that knows Joan, knows she loves Jessika. Joan spent a lot of time with her including being able to be her Girl Scout Leader for several years.

Joan spent much time on the phone calling many friends and family members daily. She always knew what was going on and was there to talk to.

Joan was diagnosed eight years ago with incurable cancer, but never let illness get her down and was able to inspire many people around her - both sick and well - with her upbeat attitude. She didn't let treatments stop her from doing everything she wanted to do, like vacation all over the country, camping, caving, boating, ATVs, or going to ride the jeep trails of Moab.

Joan became involved with the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life several years ago and was a major part of several teams over the past few years. She felt very confident the research that is being done will help other people live cancer free lives.

She is survived by her husband of 20 years Kerry Halls, her daughter Jessika Lynn Halls, her siblings Diane Miller Carver, David (Paula) Miller, and Bill (Shelly) Miller, as well as many wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that were a major part of her life.

Funeral services will be held Saturday October 18, 2008 at 11am in the Morgan Stake Chapel. Friends and family may call at Walker Mortuary in Morgan, Friday from 6 to 8 pm and Saturday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 am.

Interment, South Morgan Cemetery.
