Dr. John Thomas Cloninger, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend died at his home in Morgan, Utah on February 20, 2012, with his family at his side. He was 42 years old.
John was born on January 28, 1970 in Dallas, Texas as John Thomas Reasonover. He is the son of Thomas Reasonover and Shirley Baucom Wray, and the step-son of the late Dennis Cloninger.
John found the love of his life, Cindy L. Denning, and they were united in marriage on November 24, 1995 in Dallas, Texas. This is a love that was cherished by them both. They were inseparable in all that they did. They found their greatest joy and strength with each other and their six beautiful children.
John graduated from Newman Smith High School, in Carrollton, Texas in 1988. He enlisted in the United States Army and served as an Aerial Observer and Navigator on an OH-58 Helicopter in West Germany during high tension times of 1989-1990 and was there when the wall between East and West Germany came down. He volunteered for service in Deseret Storm as a Door Gunner on a Black Hawk Helicopter where he aided the Iraqi refugees in Northern Iraq and Turkey during 1991.
Upon returning from war, John entered school and earned his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Illinois in 2001. John entered the military once again, completing his residency at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. He then served as a Podiatrist at Fort Hood, Texas where he deployed to Iraq once more in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, this time as a Doctor. John loved serving with and treating the remarkable men and women in the armed forces.
After completing his military service, John and Cindy moved their family to the beautiful Morgan Valley, this was their paradise. John found employment in South Ogden, Utah where he established a successful Podiatry practice at The Foot & Ankle Health Center. He truly enjoyed and dedicated much of himself in the excellent care he gave to his patients and was beloved by them, as well as his many colleagues. With the talents given him and through the inspiration of our Heavenly Father, John was able to be an instrument of healing, and saving lives and limbs of those whom he treated over 11 years.
But his greatest love was his family. He yearned to spend all his free time with them and enjoyed many wonderful times with his wife and children. John taught his family through his loving way and his wonderful example the value of gaining an education, of hard work, serving others, loving your family, and fully turning your life over to the will of the Father.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, John was further able to serve those around him, always giving freely of his time. In the many capacities in which he served, he was able to gain a greater understanding of the love the Savior has for every individual and tried to emulate that love in all that he did. His testimony of the restored gospel and of his Redeemer, Jesus Christ, kept him through his difficult battle with brain cancer. His unwavering faith and submissiveness to the will of our Heavenly Father has strengthened all that knew him. We will miss the joy and light he brought into our lives here on earth, but know that we will be reunited again and rejoice in the sealing power of the priesthood that has bound us together as an eternal family. We will live our lives to remain worthy of that blessing and know that John is continuing to watch over us, as death does not diminish the eternal role of Husband and Father. We take strength in the knowledge that 'death is a mere comma, not an exclamation point,' and wait for that glorious day of resurrection.
John goes ahead to prepare the way for his loving wife, Cindy and their six beautiful children; Austin (15yrs), Kiersten (13yrs), Amber (11yrs), Caleb (8yrs), Maegan (7yrs), and Eli (7yrs). He is survived by his parents: Thomas & (Jean) Reasonover of Plano, Texas, and Shirley & (Ken) Wray of Carrollton, Texas. His brother, Jason & (Barbara) Reasonover of Carrollton, Texas. His half-sisters, Alexandra & Isabella Reasonover of Plano, Texas. His grand-mother Loreda Baucom. And many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nephews, and Niece.
