John Ray Sundberg

1951 — 2025

John Sundberg died peacefully in his home surrounded by family, who provided kind words of encouragement and strength for his journey ahead.

John lived a full life, rich with both challenge and success. He was a master craftsman and a loving father. He pursued knowledge and understanding, was never at a loss for words, with his incisive and charming humor. John was born and spent his childhood in Coalville, Utah.

He met his wife Ruth in 1974 when she hired him as a shop hand for her budding woodworking business. They began a relationship, were married and maintained their business together for 35 years in Oakley. Together they built beautiful, time-enduring furniture that adorned so many homes, elevating people’s surroundings with quality and indefinable character. John loved his family foremost, dictionaries, history, good movies, music, billiards and conversation of all sorts. Easy to talk with, easier still to like and love.

John has joined his wife Ruth, his daughter Robin, brother Kenneth, as well as his father and mother Jack and Della, leaving behind his sons Joshua and Clifford.

There is no adequate description of what you meant to us father and we will miss you until we can lovingly meet again. A memorial will be held in his honor on his birthday 5/17/2025 2:00 PM at the Cattleman's Hall, 911 W Center St Oakley Utah, 84055.
