John Swanger

May 17, 1948 — June 29, 2011

-MORGAN- John Paul Swanger- beloved son, brother, uncle and friend passed away June 29, 2011 at his home in Morgan, Utah.

He was born May 17, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Arthur John and Merle Blackburn Swanger. He graduated from South High School. After some vocational training he went to work at Hill Air Force Base where he was employed for over 36 years.

He made his home in Morgan in 1967, where he came to be known as "JP" to his many friends. Although he never married he had a family in Morgan that consisted of those friends, their children and their children's kids. He was a giant of a man with a heart as big as he was. In his earlier years he loved to snowmobile in winter and ride trail bikes in summer. Later he would take many of the kids on trips to Disney World and Disneyland. He developed a dis-like for the cold and always looked forward to spending the winter months with his friends in Yuma, Arizona.

JP is survived by three brothers, Larry (Dawna) North Logan, Rick (Karen) Panguitch, and Mike, Valley Springs, California and two sisters, Lou Ann (Tom) Hutchison, and Joyce both of Salt Lake City, "daughter" Torrie Fearn (Ryan) Porter, Kayla and Chelsea of Rock Springs, Wyoming, several nieces and nephews, godchildren and lots of fond memories.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents and a nephew, Clinton Swanger.

The family wishes to give a deep heartfelt thanks to the many friends and neighbors who were there to the very end with their help and care. Special thanks to Ryan and Torrie, Nancy, Cindy and Mel who was always there for him. A special thanks to Hearts of Hospice for their caring for him in the end.

It was his wish that there be no viewing or formal services and that he be cremated and buried in Hyde Park, Utah. There will be a celebration of his life at the Morgan City Park on Saturday July 2nd @2:00. Please come and enjoy telling stories how you met the big hearted teddy bear. Arrangements are being made through Walker Mortuary, Morgan, Utah
