Joseph Kent Ball, age 90, was reunited with his eternal sweetheart and son on October 26, 2024.
He was born August 15, 1934 in Coalville, UT. Joseph was the second of four sons born to William Alton “Mick” Ball and Mary Rogers.
After graduating from North Summit High School he became a member of the U. S. Army and then the Army reserve. After his full time service in the army, he attended Weber State College where he met Deanna Dykstra. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 16, 1957.
Having an education was a priority to Joseph. He received a Bachelor’s in Education at the University of Utah. He continued his pursuit and received his Master’s in Education at Utah State University and a Doctorate in Education from Brigham Young University.
After graduating from the University of Utah he obtained his teaching license and began teaching in the Davis County School District. Two years later he became the principal at West Bountiful Elementary and then Orchard Elementary. Eventually he left the field of education.
He pursued many other interests and side jobs over the years from construction to sales. Working for Murray First Thrift Leasing led him to move his family to Arizona. Eventually he returned to education. He was a school administrator, a district administrator and after completing his doctorate became a school district superintendent which eventually led him back to Utah and he settled in the Morgan Valley. Before retiring he worked as an adjunct professor at Brigham Young University and a professor in the education department at Weber State University.
After retiring, he and his wife settled in St. George, Utah. In 2018, he moved to Layton, UT.
He was preceded in death by his wife Deanna, his son Joseph Mick Ball and his brothers Roger and Brent Ball.
